Post

Hi, everyone!

I was at Ikea Paramus on Friday, and my mother and I looked at cabinets. I am IN LOVE! My mother, who is the first person to note if she doesn't like something, could find no fault with them at all, and in fact was very impressed. (She wants me to change my color scheme and buy Stat Yellow!)

The biggest impression came from looking at the shelves in the cabinets. The shelves were so substantial...it was really very impressive, and made everything look very finished and very sturdy. Even the glass shelves felt more "solid" than others I have seen in other cabinets.

Overall everything had a lovely feel to it: the doors were nicely weighted, the hinges were smooth, and the deep drawers for pots and pans were easy to open, even stacked with Ikeaware for demo purposes!

My mother spent the whole weekend, and today at her office, telling people about our trip and encouraging them to head to Ikea. And telling them how clever her daughter is for finding Ikea cabinets Thanks, gang, for helping me to look like such a kitchen genius!

Do I need to start a Mothers of IkeaFans forum? Glad you and your mother enjoyed your trip! It's so much fun to me to be able to plan a kitchen and spend what I save on a new range! Woo-hoo. No more either/or!!!

That's fantastic! I'm so glad you're happy with what you're planning

So are you planning to use Stat Yellow?

Stacy

(also in LOVE with our new cabinets and have converted my mom, aunt and possibly more family members over)

I'm not sure about the yellow, but I'm looking at it! (I have to talk my husband into it!) I think I am sold on the Stat cabinets, though. I love the mullioned glass in the glass cabinets, but I noticed the mullions on the Stat are uneven. They center ones are twice as large as the end ones. It looks a little unique that way, and maybe a little more...antique? I don't know how to phrase it. I just like it. There, that's how I will phrase it: I just like them.

Yeah, Emmie. Me too. And despite what people say, I don't think it looks plasticky. Or I wouldn't have it in my house. There. I feel better.

Lisa, is this the first time you've been to IKEA? I was wondering about the finish on the Lidingo. It's hard to tell in the catalog or on-line. Did you happen to see them? Is the finish too shiny? I like mullioned doors also. I know it's a stretch here, but I'm desperate to see them in person!

My dh checked to see which store was closest to us and it's the Bolingbrook, IL store. Hey, it's 4-1/2 hours away (290 miles) instead of the 5 hours we had thought. Yippeeeeee!

Laurie, I saw the Lindingo when I was at the store. They have a painted finish, like the Stat doors. It's very smooth and it is shiny, but I don't know what would be too shiny in your opinion. Lindingo has become my "second favorite" because I like the mullions and the raised panels on the doors, but I like the offset mullions and the beadboard look of Stat just a little more.

::clearing throat and standing taller to project my voice:: Ikea cabinets are NOT cheap! Or plasticky!
