On the front page of the Ikea Canada website they are advertising the kitchen event. $100 in Ikea gift cards for every $1000 spent on a new kitchen.

Now, can somebody tell me how to convince my DH that it's time to order our cabinets?? I'm SO ANXIOUS to get started...

We just bought ours last weekend (June 30th). What are the odds that we would be able to get these cards now? Slim to none?

But then, prices went up on July 1 (in Canada too?) so it might be a wash.

Yep - you might want to price out your kitchen with the updated prices.

That said, with the weakness of the US dollar, I wonder if any Canadians are thinking of driving down to the states to save money on their purchases. ;-)

The prices for built in kitchens hasn't changed here, according to the new flyer. I've been watching Adel Med Brown for more than 2 years, and it's still $149 per foot. The others are the same too. Maybe the price increase was only in the US.
Can't hurt to ask for the gift cards. I've been waiting because they seem to do 2 kitchen events each year. The other one is 10% off, so it's basically the same deal but you don't have to spend your 10% at Ikea. (but I don't mind!)
