I recently purchased the Jonas drawer unit and the Summera hanging files because the website said that the files would fit in the bottom "file cabinet" drawer. I tried them and they are not wide enough. Am I missing an additional attachment?

Did your drawer unit come with 2 thin metal rods that look like they have no use whatsoever? These are to be inserted in the holes of the grey plastic spines that are (or should have been put) on the tops of the 2 drawer sides. There are a number of these holes, to accommodate files of varying widths. See if that helps.

Ikea used to carry hanging files that fit the Jonas cabinet (and other similar ones) properly... You could put them in so they faced forward rather than using the rods and hanging them sideways. You can fit a LOT more in that way. Any idea why they stopped making them? I still have a couple left -- it says "Signum A4" on the box.

Hi, I am having trouble figuring out the different file folder sizes. For example what I want is a filing cabinet that has room for 2 large file folders (foolscap?) in each drawer.

The filing cabinets I have, Alve Bookcase with drawer, can have either 2 small letter size file folders or 1 large and 1 small.

I have the Effektiv Add on Unit with File Frame and it is the same set up.

This is further complicated by the fact that I live in Australia so the Ikea letter size file folders FileX NO 307 AS are different than the American Letter size file folders.

My business is based on US letter and legal which do not have an Australian equivalent.

So I end up with 2 file folders per drawer. EITHER Ikea size FileX NO 307 AS paired with a large Foolscap, American size letter file folder paired with the large Foolscap, or 2 small American Letter size file folders.

I hope this makes sense, and if anyone has any suggestions Thank-you very much.

I have heaps of files, Australian and American and need to use the most
efficient use of the cabinets. Does Ikea have filing cabinets that allow 2 large file folders per drawer? Now that I like further away from the store I can't just dash down and measure.
