Hi everyone,
after many years of use one of the drawer ball bearings of my effektiv cabinet broke; I somehow got to reassemble it, but it's distorted and it's no more smooth as it used to be.
The cabinet is the old style Effektiv, the one that has the top panels connecting on the side of lateral panels, not the new style with top panels sitting on the top edge of lateral panels.
The drawer unit, half the height of a regular extension, is the one with two thin drawers of the same size.
The part I need to replace si the metallic ball bearing that drives the drawer.
I no longer have the instructions and before going to the store I would be happy if someone could tell me the part number for the ball bearing or can make me available the mounting instructions, so it would be easier for me to ask at the store. The cabinet is discontinued and so I don't know if the new style bearings fit in the old one.
Unfortunately I don't have a camera here now so I can't post a photo.
Without a picture I can't be sure, but are you talking about the chrome drawer glide that attaches first to the side of the unit, and then to the drawer itself?
If so, this is an integral unit, and isn't sold separately. The best you're probably going to be able to do is find an old unit on E-Bay, etc., and scavenge the glide from there.

Yes, I think we mean the same thing. The telescopic rail on which the drawer is mounted.
By the way, I know it's not sold separately, but I know that customer service is sometimes able to find a replacement part if you go there with the part number that appears to the side of the part on the instructions. So I'm looking forward to hear from someone that has the booklet for the drawer unit and can tell me the part number.
Alright, so we know what part we're after, but which unit does it come from? Do you have the small 3 drawer "cassette" that fits under a desk, or is it one of the pieces from the storage line - an add-on unit that could be outfitted any number of different ways?

You may be able to discern the part number by googling the ikea catalog from the year of purchase. Try 2006, for example, where Effektiv is found on pages 20-21. You should be able to get the part number from there I also have Effektiv and was loking for drawers/panels/etc for the front, which they no longer make in te 17 3/4" size. That's how I cam across your post. Anyway, if there is something further I can do to help, kindly let me know.
