Hey everyone,

I love the BILLY corner combinations that you see on the IKEA website and in store, however due to some space constraints, I'd love to be able to use a BENNO cd/dvd tower as the corner piece. So instead of having two BILLY bookcases flanking another BILLY bookcase in the middle (corner), I'd like to try using a BENNO in the middle instead.

My question is whether or not the corner hardware IKEA sells for the BILLY will fit on the BENNO cd tower. I've read the assembly instructions for the corner hardware, and it seems simple enough- assemble your BILLY bookcases, slip the angle pieces below, use the bracket and two screws to secure the whole thing together...

IKEA staff at my local store seem to think that the corner hardware will *only* fit the BILLY series and my searches here have come up empty... So I'm reaching out to the IKEA gods now and hope someone has some experiences with using the cd tower as the corner piece (or any other suggestions as to maximizing the corner via another IKEA series...)

I did just what you want to do for a friend about a year ago, but darn if I can remember if I used the Billy corner hardware. I'll be visiting her this weekend, and will take a look and report back. We used 2 Benno towers in her house, which I think is the same dimension across as a Billy, but 1 would certainly work.

The neat thing about using the Billy/Benno combination is the ability to use different color combinations - we did hers using black/brown Billys and deep red Bennos. If I remember, I'll take a picture or two.



UPDATE: Upon further review, we used the Billy corner hardware kit with the Benno CD towers in the middle. The Billy hardware kit installs on the Benno just as it does on the Billy, without any modification required.

Thank you Chuck- I just put my Billy/ Benno corner combination together with a Morebo door (black side). Looks great, really appreciate the information.

Now to find a white dry/wet erase marker to use on the glass of the Morebo

For what it's worth, I extended the height of my Billys, then didn't like the way the Benno at the end was shorter. So I used my good miter box saw and a few screws to shrink a Billy extender down to Benno size.
