Re: Is the new IKEA Sultan Laxeby a better slatted base?
Bought the Queen Laxeby around mid Dec 2011. Yeah it's time consuming to assemble (about an hour on my own). Easy to make stupid mistakes if you don't watch the instructions carefully.
Slats should bow up not down and there are two sizes. Make sure you use the long ones and where the short ones are needed assemble them as a pair with the long ones using the sliders pushed well towards the center otherwise they do fall out.
My question is - the frame is symmetrical. Which means that the hips and shoulders are not supported by the reinforced banks for dual slats (5 and 5) separated by 8. Is this by design so that the hips and shoulders are on a softer segment of the frame with thighs and torso on the strengthened pieces?
We have a new wool (un-sprung) mattress and it is already sagging in the "hollow" where the hips lay.
Question - Do I reconfigure the frame to put the reinforced slats under the hips and shoulders? Anybody done this?
PS it isn't noisy and I don't see how it can become so unless the screws work loose
