I have a 32 inch LCD TV that is about 50 pounds with its stand. Does anyone know if the Expedit Bookshelf turned on its side can be used as a tv stand? The site says each shelf can support 29 pounds, so would the TV be too heavy to sit on its side?

I think you'll be fine using the Expidit unit as you've described. My only concern would be it's top heaviness with the TV in place, so you'll want to be sure to secure the unit to the wall somehow.

I don't remember whether the 2x4 unit comes with the typical IKEA mounting hardware, but you could also use the cloth strap or metal "L" brackets that IKEA uses as anti-topple devices. If you don't have these, you can use an "L" bracket from a hardware store, or I could send you a couple of either version of the device.

i know this is reply is a little late, but it should i have a 42" plasma on my expedit 2x4 laying on it's side. my cousin has had the same setup for the last 6 months with no problems.

Hi.

has anyone mounted a tv on this expedit tv stand? I have a 37" tv that wont fit with the stand so I will have to mount it on the back panel of expedit. I have seen photos on the ikea catalogue of a tv mounted on this cabinet, but somehow I am afraid that the panel isnt strong enough to take the 60 pound tv.

Any experiences would help.
