Hi, all. I want to put a bookshelf or CD shelf in the narrow space between my window and a wall. It can be up to 8 or 9 feet tall; the problem is the width. The space is actually 10 inches wide, but two feet off the floor the windowsill sticks into the space, making it 9 and 3/8 inches at that point only. I'd like the shelving unit to fill the available width--be it 9 3/8 or 10 (in the latter case, could I cut a notch in a 10-inch-wide unit at the point where it would hit the windowsill?) Any suggestions of appropriate or easily hackable IKEA products most welcome! Thanks!

The Leksvik cd shelf immediately jumped to mind - it is 9.5 inches wide, but it's pine, so it should be easier to notch it than some of the non-solid-wood options. You could paint it pretty easily if it was too country for you.

The perfekt shelving units would fit, but you'd need a lot of them so it'd be quite a bit more expensive.

Leksvik would work, there is also a tall Benno CD tower that is narrow at 7 7/8" wide and 6 3/4" deep, nearly 80" tall.

Thanks! I'm leaning toward Leksvik because it's closer to the actual width of the space, and I'm trying to achieve a built-in look as much as possible.
