Hi there,

Did a search and didn't see an answer to this specific question. I bought a new mattress and low-profile box spring set to go with my malm bed, and am not quite sure how to set it up. Should I put the box spring directly on top of the frame (with midbar)? Or do I need the slats first? I do have a set of the cheap Lade slats, so I can do either way, but the slats do add a good 3/4" of height. Are they needed?

Just thought it might help someone - I called Ikea and they say either way is fine!
