slatted bed base

I recently bought a mattress from Ikea and was wondering if I should buy a slatted bed base as well.

As I'm only living in this apartment for a year I do not want to invest in a bed frame. However, I also don't want to just leave my mattress lying on the ground. Can I use the slatted bed base by itself, without a frame, to give me a little support? What would you suggest?

Thanks.

Re: slatted bed base

Welcome to IKEAFANS, isabel.

Without the bed frame to provide some support for the slats, I'd say you'd be wasting your money if you bought the slats. You'd be better served buying a piece of 3/4" plywood and cutting that to size. Or skipping the whole thing altogether and just putting the mattress on the floor.
