Ikea bed feedback: heimdal? mandal? other?

I'm making a trip to ikea tonight and need to include a new bed frame in the mix. I need something in a full that's NO LONGER than ~79" (the room is only 80" wide). I had my eye on the vinstra or possibly the mandal (without storage), but I'm annoyed by the lack of height to allow storage underneath. The Heimdal looks better heightwise (though I don't love the design as much) and the price is very attractive, but I've heard its a little unstable.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the Heimdal or the ability to get the mandal/vinstra up off the floor a bit? Any ideas?

Re: Ikea bed feedback: heimdal? mandal? other?

I have the Heimdal bed in double and find it very stable as it does have the mid-beam. The silver blends into the blue walls of the bedroom and you can always respray the bed whatever colour you want. I like that the foot of the bed is low making the mattress I have easy to turn.

Re: Ikea bed feedback: heimdal? mandal? other?

Thanks. I was at Ikea last night with every intention of purchasing a bed. Left empty-handed (and thoroughly annoyed). The beds were utter crap for the most part. I used to have a Malm that was quite stable, but I have limited space now and don't want to "donate" an extra 6" of floor space to the side rails of the bed frame. The Heimdal rocked back and forth at the slightest movement. The headboard on the Mandal felt like it would break if you leaned against it to read (and they had none in stock). The vinstra was my first choice, but it's been out of stock at Ikea BK for the last three weeks.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed with this trip. And it was topped off by an HOUR wait to check out.
