hey everyone,

new to ikea products and this board... go easy on me if this is an obvious one


i'm interested in getting a new desk and spending as little as possible.

does anyone know if this is a good tabletop?

and what legs should i get? it looks like a lot of the vika legs don't attach?? i need something super sturdy that will last for many years. i am considering getting the galant a-legs for it, but would i need any extra equipment or would the vika tabletop work well with them?

The Galant desk series has a steel underframe, of which the legs bolt up to that. Without this underframe, the legs won't work.

The Vika Amon is fine for what it is (an affordable top), but understand that it's honeycomb (hollow) construction means it's not as resistant to impacts and other mishaps.

I would stick with the Galant series completely. To save money, check in your local store's AS-IS section to see if they have any there. Sometimes, the tops get drastically marked down because the package was damaged or there's a ding on the corner.
