Hey guys, I'm a long time IKEA shopper, first time poster, new to the forum. I hope someone here can help me out with my dilemma!

I am having problems with my HOPEN bed frame. It is the full-sized frame and I've had it for about 3 years, but I've only really used it for 2. I remember in 2005 when I moved, I lost one of the brackets that hold the center metal beam in place on the headboard and footboard, which makes up the structure of the bed. It is a square bracket that has a lip at the bottom and two holes at the top to fit the screws. My roommate's boyfriend fashioned a temporary bracket for me that held up fine for 2 years. I then moved into my boyfriend's place and didn't use the bed frame for nearly a year, as it sat in my storage unit.

I just took the bed frame out of my storage unit this weekend and was trying to put it together to use in my new apartment. Of course, the temporary bracket doesn't work anymore - it bent when my boyfriend and I tried to put it together. Now I am stuck with a HOPEN bed that is still in good condition, but I don't have a bracket to attach the center metal beam to the headboard - I only have the one bracket that attaches to the footboard. I need to put the metal beam there because that is what holds the bed together (along with the sultan slats). Without my bracket I am stuck with pieces of a HOPEN bed.

Any idea where I could find another bracket or something similar to it? I thought about searching hardware stores - would I be better off going to Home Depot, Lowe's or a big box store or should I stick to the small local hardware shops? My boyfriend is a mechanic so he is going to see if he can fashion something similar to my missing bracket or find something in his shop that would work. My local IKEA is in Woodbridge, VA - does any one know if this location has replacement pieces available at its customer service area?

Thanks for your help...hopefully I will be sleeping on my HOPEN bed soon (instead of just tripping over the pieces of it in my new apartment)!

As quite a few of these bed frames use the middle connector, so I would be inclined to say that yes, the local store will have spares in the customer service dept.

Bring the one from the footboard too, though, as so you can see right away that you get the exact match.

Don't forget a pair of screws if you're missing those too!

The bracket you're looking for is the "former" version of this piece, although you can use the new one if you can't find the old version.

The new part number is 116791; the old part was 105978. The screws to attach either one would be 110789.

FYI, the new bracket has holes in it for securing the cross braces, so that the braces are installed in a diamond pattern between the brackets and the "L" runner; in the older version, there were no holes in the bracket, and the cross braces ran from the center of the mid-beam out to the "L" runner in an "X" shape.
