Re: Hardware
Welcome to IKEAFANS, pTom.
To start with, she'd need to know the names of the pieces. Then you can go to your local IKEA store and pick-up the missing hardware from the returns/spare parts department. At the
Conshohocken
store, all the bits you'd need are free of charge. I don't know what the policy is at other stores.

Thanks for that info. We knew that and went to her nearest store and they didn't have squat. We need ALL the hardware for four different pieces of furniture that I spent almost $2,000 buying and whose hardware were lost in her move and is now isn't even good for firewood.
I had one of their desk chairs a few years ago and the wheel fell apart after a couple years. Went to the store (140 miles away) with the broken wheel to get it replaced and guess what? They don't have replacement wheels for something a few years old. I had to toss the chair in the trash when the second wheel broke and I was tired of propping it up with wooden blocks.
IKEA markets itself on its sustainability, but where is the customer service? Or is it by not having hardware packages available they want you to buy all the stuff over again? So far no one from IKEA has responded to my question in my email to their customer service. I'm not impressed with their claim or sustainability or great customer service. I haven't seen it yet, but I''m hoping it shows up.
At my Ikea they have a little bit out in the front where you can just grab it and a LOT more in the back. If you know the item number, they'll look for it. If you show up and say you bought a chair two years ago and need parts, they won't know where to look first... Honestly, I'm not aware of any other store that provides even as much as Ikea. I have personal experience with what it takes to get replacement parts from Sears, for example, and it's NOT pretty nor even close to free! Ikea didn't lose your stuff and you're free to go to a big box hardware store (or office supply store for your chair) and find replacements if you can't find them at Ikea. No one is forcing you to throw out anything.
I think you need to step back and think about this. You paid for your daughter's furniture and she lost the parts. And you're mad at Ikea? I don't advocate anger in any direction, but surely this is misplaced....
