I'm looking at the ANTONIUS system for my laundry room. It's an exceptionally small room (by design) and I find the bank of hideously disfunctional Mills Pride or some such thing *temporary* cabinets my dad put in there serve no purpose in the space.
One of the major issue is that there are these cabinets, but no useful storage. There's a huge kitchen countertop (probably nearly 5ft long) that encourages clutter and again, is a bit much as far as folding space.
In addition to the size of the room, there's a "soft" vent for the heating system on one wall to the right of the stacked front loaders.
Has anyone used this or looked at it up close at the IKEA? I'm finding it difficult to determine what bits and pieces I'll need. And there's a nice layout in the catalog, but I can't get a good look at it on the online version....
Lisa - It looked pretty nice, IMO, but I was looking at it for bedroom and craft room storage, and decided against it. I like the built-in aspects of Pax and Akurum better; the Antonius seemed less substantial and more temporary - like it would be ideal for a renter who wanted to move it with her. Still, they have lots of cool gizmos (no surprise) that were very appealing.
Since this particular space can't handle a built in, your opinion pushes me toward thinking the ANTONIUS may be the best solution. I tend to let things lay around in the laundry room because I have this huge flat space (Hi, my name is Lisa and I'm a Flat Space Abuser), but nowhere to hang things as they come out of the dryer - or a place for detergents, etc.
Now I just need to determine the max load for the shelves.
(okay and I'll admit the magnetic board intrigues me. I love magnetic poetry)
ETA: IKEA says the max weight per shelf is 25lbs. ::hurries off to weigh Costco Sized Jug O' Tide::
Lisa, I can't speak to the entire ANTONIUS line, but I do have one of the sliding wire drawer units, and I've been quite happy with it. I bought it a few years ago when I was living in a tiny apartment and needed a little extra storage space in a closet, and it was great. I bought the optional laminate countertop piece to go on top, too. Very nice. The quality is just as good as the Elfa stuff you can buy at BB&B and the Container Store, but much, MUCH cheaper.
Does anyone know if kitchen table height would be good for folding? I'm thinking of getting a MUDDUS table for the laundry room. I realize now that since I've removed that big bank of cabinets the room is slightly larger than I thought...so I could put the small table in there and maybe that TRACTOR desk chair. Then it could double as my secret office
Whimsy, you know. And a bit of self-preservation. No one ever goes in the laundry room but me...
Lisa, I think a counter height would be more comfortable if you stand when you fold. My kitchen table hurts my back, I use the island instead when needed. You can use a counter stool to sit at the counter for other stuff.
Ugh. How was I to know that ANTONIUS is spread hither and yon around IKEA? It's in small storage in the marketplace, upstairs by PAX, in the organization area with whiteboards, etc., in the shelf area, in self serve...it was quite the challenge to get all my parts. I think I did...but one can never be sure.
It seems to fit the bill for what I want in my laundry room.

ha! My method is to buy several of everything...then return what's left over. I have way more shelves, brackets, uprights, etc. than I could possibly need (I hope).
I studiedKRADVANT a little closer and I see they have some tutorial type thing on the back wall there. I might try my hand at making my own panels from nice fabric, since the edges on their panels seem to get a little frayed.
