My IKEA: USA-Los Angeles:Costa Mesa
Billy color matching with extra shelves.
Why do certain color Billy bookcases have no extra shelves available for them in that specific color?

Take the black Billy bookcase for instance. There are no extra shelves you can buy in black to go along with it. You either have to buy glass or get a different color.

Does that mean that the bookcase color was discontinued or was it always like this?

Really? The IKEA website shows extra shelves available in all colors, including black-brown, and both sizes.

Maybe your local store just didn't have any in stock?

Extra shelves can be ordered thru the website.

I think extra shelves are available
in the wood veneers and in white,
but not in the painted colours like
red, blue, silver. etc.
