I love the Ikea sinks and bathroom vanities. I really wanted a different finish on my bathroom faucet than chrome though...Is it possible to put in a regular say Home Depot or Lowes faucet in one of the Ikea sinks?

Thanks!

We put a Delta faucet in our Ikea stainless steele sink. We have the large SS sink with the drainboard. I believe our contractor had to drill some extra holes for the sprayer and soap container attatchments.

Thanks for replying...How about the bathroom sinks? They aren't stainless steel.

smithfx7 -- Wow, quick response! Thanks, and welcome to the forums!

nurse914 -- Welcome to you as well! I don't think there's any documented issue with using a 3rd party faucet with an IKEA sink (what's the deal with the 3rd party? Who's the 2nd?). As smithfx7 mentioned, you might have an issue with not enough holes in the sink. If that's the case, we have a tutorial around here about drilling a new hole in a Domsjo sink, which would be basically the same process.

Here's the thread with the link to the instructions (with pictures!): http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/view_...mp;forum_id=12

Hope that helps!

Susan

Hi

This forum ROCKS! Talk about quick replies! I am interested in the Hollviken sink, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to get the faucet I want. I guess a trip to Ikea is in order.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Jeanette - I'm looking at Hollviken too - did you know there are two kinds, and different sizes? I think other-than-Ikea faucets would work fine - just make sure you have the faucet that matches the number of holes in the sink (or be prepared to drill more). I think the Ikea bathroom sinks are single-hole, or some are no-hole (i.e. you install the faucet on the wall or into the counter). It will make sense when you see them.

Hello! We have the larger version of the HOLLVIKEN sink (80X55 cm) and had absolutely no problem installing a non-ikea faucet (a Grohe, to be exact). I think that as long as you stick with single-hole faucets you shoulf be fine.

BTW, we are very happy with the HOLLVIKEN. It's so spacious and functional and easy to clean, plus it looks great!

I love that sink, Ulrik! I wish there were a way to install that large one into a longer counter area. I'm toying with the idea of using the smaller Hollviken as a drop in sink.

Re: Different faucet in Ikea sink??

Hello,
I'm actually hoping to put a single-hole Ikea faucet into a different sink (the Ikea sinks don't fit in our small bathroom). Does anyone know if this is possible?
