Question Billy Light for Billy Bookcase

Hi,

I'm hoping to get a bit of help regarding the installation of a Billy light used on the Billy series bookcases. The case and light were given to me without instructions. and for the life of me I can not figure out how the light attaches to the desired self.

Any help would be welcomed and appreciated.
I apologize if this should have been posted in another area of the forum.

Paul.

Re: Billy Light for Billy Bookcase

No ideas?

Well I tried everything. I understand that the light attaches to a shelf, and I see the brackets under the light along with a backstop...

What is driving me bonkers is that the light extends past the shelf by a good 4 inches or so when I slide the light onto the shelf... Now, this can't be right can it? It looks like a canopy...

So after my gf woke up this monrning and came into the den saying something about "the King is dead..." after looking at the lightless bookcase... I decided to regain my Kingdom by using all means necessary.

I drilled the light to the shelf. But fear not! I did pre-drill and managed to use screws small enough not to puncture the top of the shelf. The light now sits under the second shelf, flush with the front of the shelf.

So everything is good, right?

Nope. I would really like to know how the light is correctly fastened to a shelf. I'm funny that way....

I've tried everything, google, google images, youtube... the whole lot and nothing. I can't even find the Billy Light in the Ikea catalogue... so please if you know how to do this as per Ikea spec please share. Or if you now of another way I could find out, short of visiting a Ikea store, please let me know.

Thanks!

Paul.

Hey there Paul --

Well sounds like you're on the way to becoming a classic IKEA Hacker!

Heh...

But... Have you taken a look at the IKEA website for the bookcase light you have? There are PDF instruction sheets available for a number of their products - if you can ID the fixture from the website, there might be an instruction sheet for it. IKEA | Search result

PDF Instructions available from the Home Page, down at the bottom on the left: IKEA | Assembly Instructions
