IKEA Bamboo Flooring

I just got back from a road trip to the Bolingbrook IKEA and saw their bamboo flooring. I brought back a sample and it's pretty tough to scratch. Has anybody installed this? It's a layer of bamboo backed with MDF and is a floating floor like laminate. For just over a dollar a square foot, I just might have to try it out in the master bedroom.

I installed the bamboo flooring in my kitchen back in October, and I love it. It's much easier underfoot than my old linoleum, and it looks beautiful. Easy and fairly quick to install, too.

The finish is fairly scratch resistant--however, if you have people prone to wearing heels (or dropping heavy things), it does tend to dent. This doesn't bother me, but it might be a dealbreaker if you like things pristine and unmarred.

Thanks for the info! I don't think it will get much traffic in the bedroom, so I think as soon as the Cincinnati store opens up I'll buy some.

gorbo, i'm with you. i installed solid bamboo (qualifies as a hardwood floor since it's solid) and it does dent a bit, but i love it. i love the feel of the floor and it's not too hard underfoot. and it looks like a real wood floor should, not 100% tight and unmarred.
I'm a bit cranky at the anti-bamboo stories lately, imo it's just the wood industry getting scared!

Dulci, I know what you mean. Seems like everybody is complaining about their budget bamboo flooring. (Esp the stuff from LL, but I won't go there.)

What's the 'LL'? I'm about to put Teragren bamboo flooring on my first floor (strand) and regular horizontal natural (also by Teragren) in the bedroom.

i don't know what LL is either
But I have horizontal that I bought from costco for 1.85sf and i laid it myself. I'll go with strand from now on in high traffic areas. they've finally found a great style of strand that has some texture to it (i don't like the vertical where it's just tiny little lines) I LOVE the look of horizontal, but it is tough with lil tykes
