Yes, Besta is coming in another month or so, akkording to the Ikkean I spoke with yesterday. Supposedly the series is slated for release on "week 18", and we are in "week 13". Now, how complete the stock of components will be remains to be seen.
It is replacing the Bonde series, which I was originally going to use for a wall system in the dining room. I'm not thrilled with this change, since Bonde used veneers and Besta uses the "foil effect". I may need to go custom if they look too cheap.

That's what I've read around these parts, and it was confirmed by the folks I spoke with at Ikea. It's a shame - the Bonde is a very nicely designed system. I was going to snap up the remaining stock to put together my project, but alas very few components were left in stock here in the LI/NY metro area.
Now I must switch to "Plan B" which means waiting for the Besta to show up for evaluation.
Now that Besta is in the US, does anyone know when it will come in white? Their planner and Europe has it available in white but I have not found any information about it coming to the US soon.
I saw this line on display the last time I was at the
Woodbridge
store, so I'm guessing it's already available. I'll be making a pilgrimage to the store tomorrow so I'll be sure to take some pics and see if it's actually in stock.

I am putting the finishing touches on a wall unit of Besta in the dining room - here's a quick, blurry poorly lit shot!
I had to go with the beige drawers since the beech were not yet in stock...now I'm thinking of replacing both the drawers and lower doors with the Norum white doors...need to have a look at them first. Big part is done with the cabs in place, lighting finished and the trim done, so swapping out doors is no big deal.
