Antonius anyone...

I need to put shelves in two closets and a new laundry room. Having priced out the really expensive stuff...and having to be revived after seeing the price...I would love to get opinions on Antonius. Thanks.

Re: Antonius anyone...

I haven't used Antonius, but I'm going to move this to the Home And Office forum for more comments.

Re: Antonius anyone...

I've used only the drawer units, which seem very sturdy for what they are. The shelving system is really versatile - I don't think you could go wrong as long as you don't let kids climb on the components (I've seen some bent ones in the As Is room).

Re: Antonius anyone...

Antonius is OK--not the best but OK. You can't really set up a hanging rod w/o a shelf, for ex.: just not stable enough. And we had to fight with the hanging hardware: I think we wound up returning one rod because we couldn't get the hardware unscrewed enough from its default position and ended up stripping the threads. And the metal shelves, while cool, are a bit tricky to insert and I seem to remember we had to be careful what we put next to them or something: they wrap around the uprights a bit. Those shelves are also prone to warping: I would not put really heavy things on them but hats and scarves and shoe boxes seem to be OK. Nonetheless, I think it's good value for the money and once installed it has been problem free to date. Definitely mount on studs, however!

Re: Antonius anyone...

I set up my laundry corner with Antonius, I bought a minimal version, just a shelf and the desktop over the washing machine.
I cannot but recomend it, it's easy to set up and versatile (i'm planning to add another shelf), the only minus is the lenght limitation of certain items.

Thanks for all the replies....

I actually put it into two closets last weekend and am very pleased. You do need to do some modifications to get it to work well. The distance between the standards is 31 1/8....getting that to work with my 16 inch center studs was a pain. So we bought 3/4 boards that we attached to the studs and painted. We attached the standards to that...giving us the ability to meet this exact measurement. It actually looks quite nice on the painted white boards.

I have the sliding baskets, and a variety of shelves and clothes rails. The big bonus was it was 50% of the cost of another system I was looking at.
