Before and after: Nexus BB and Rubrik white re-do of 1960 kitchen
Details about the pictures in this set I'd like to share with others...
All:
Longtime lurker here got some great advice from the forum as well as some good feedback on our plans (under a username that we lost) and wanted to post some before and after pics in case anything we did is of interest to others.
The short of it: original 1960 kitchen (harvest gold? ahh yeah...) in need of a remodel and demoing a wall to the dining area.
Decided on Nexus BB lowers, Rubrik white uppers (2009 version, would have preferred the 2008 version), Ikea hardware and faucet, as well.
DIY, except plumbing and electrical, and took about 3 months to get to 95%, 3 more months to get done.
First post, so please let me know if I am doing anything horribly discourteous or asinine, but primarily wanted to thank the forum for all the wonderful help that you all provide.

The old kitchen must have been pretty spiffy when installed.
The new one, with its contrast of Rubrik and dark wood, sets a high standard of design for the rest of us. The clean, sweeping, confident lines of cabinets make the locations/sizes of doors and windows a non-issue. Same goes for the clean countertops and backsplashes.
What's the paint color?
I'm finding that the final 5% is taking as long as the 95%. Putting things back into the kitchen one-by-one, touching up baseboards, replacing ceiling lights that didn't look right....

Really beautiful and I bet so much nicer to be in. I'm curious, what pull out did you use on the bottom of the kitchen sink? Is it IKEA and I just missed it?

Hi all, thanks for the kind words. On the specific q's:
Cooktop is a GE profile induction. It's amazing. Had never used induction before, but we are really happy with it. We found http://theinductionsite.com to be a great resource for induction cooking research. One thing that almost tripped us up: most nominal 30 inch wide induction cooktops will not fit in a 30 inch wide (outside dimension) base cabinet without mod'ing the cabinet. Fortunately, the GE profiles and monograms fit perfectly in the Ikea 30" cabinet. BTW, The Induction Site, at the time (summer 08) also had the best price on the unit we wanted, so we ordered via them, although the unit was shipped by Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center.
Countertop is Silestone, color Mont Blanc. Also very happy with it.
Paint is Benjamin Moore Aura in Crowne Hill Yellow. Aura is amazingly good paint. Also, amazingly expensive, but are happy with it.
The undersink storage is a combination of two of the Ikea units cut to size (using smaller upper baskets only and with the frame cut down) and a Rev-a-Shelf piece (u-shaped undersink sliding shelf, or some such) that was really, really overpriced, but that made the most sense for this application, given that the drain line has to go over to the left to hit the vent and then come back under the sink. Not much real estate for other configurations.
We ordered the cabinets before deciding on the cooktop, so did not know how much ventilation space the cooktop would need. Therefore, decided to do pullouts rather than drawers so they could be more easily positioned depending on the final cooktop selection. This forum was great in terms of indentifying the right Blum hardware to turn a couple of Ikea drawers into pullouts.
