My "I can't believe it's my kitchen" Kitchen - Finished
Details about the pictures in this set I'd like to share with others...
This is, in every way, my dream kitchen. I thought about it for 2 years, actively planned and designed it for 1 year (with an immense amount of help from you all on this site), and have watched a dream become reality in 7 weeks. I can't wait to start cooking!http://d3lm6lkllpi31h.cloudfront.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I really can't thank enough all those on this site who shared their stories and pictures and ideas and inspiration. It was a wealth of information to draw from and make use of, and I did!

How wonderful! I remember looking at your renderings when I first started my planning! I love the green/white/brown color scheme - and how the pooch matches so well!
Congrats! It's fun to see a newly 'finished'! We picked up our cabs on Monday and I've got 9 put together so far.... and we're meeting with our GC to sign the contract tomorrow! Seeing your finished is tiding me over until we can get started!

This is the sort of kitchen that separates the good designers from mere "improve the house" types like me. I would never have come up with the island. If for some reason I had, I would have canned the idea as not good for eventual resale.
By the way, do I see a clever evasion of toekicks for that island? The sides are amazingly sleek.

Thanks so much for the kind feedback. The dearth of toekicks on the island happened because I didn't know I needed them on the island : =) As it turned out, I like it better that way.
The spooky head is actually Nefertiti, and is sort of a family joke. It probably won't live there forever - looking for something better that "fits". :=)

Happy to hear that the island was a benevolent accident. The solid slab sides of the island look far more sophisticated than toekicks. The only question is whether the sides will suffer scuffs or scratches at the bottom. Remedy would be to squirrel away extra cover panels (I have some extras for my own dorky kitchen).
