One of the great things about the IKEA PAX wardrobes, is the huge sliding doors. Well, ok, the amazing flexibility of storage solutions to go in the PAX wardrobes is the best thing about them, but the doors are really great too, and a lot better priced than a comparably attractive glass and aluminum door. So jfranci3 decided to adapt the PAX door’s hanging system to attach the doors to the front of an existing closet (above left) . And hbrico took the lessons and techniques jfranci3 shared with us and built an entire room divider (above right). Check out the the details of how they did it after the jump!

It couldn’t come at a worse time. Just tonight you’ve given your new IKEA mattress a test run, and you got lucky – you’re finally going to get a good night’s sleep. Then, suddenly, as you blissfully turn over in your sleep, you come crashing down to earth. Or to the floor, anyway. #$@%!! What just happened?
Your bed slats fell through your bed frame, that’s what happened. The question is why. And the answer is inside…

Loading and unloading a dishwasher can be a major PITB (pain in the back), and not just for those with back problems or accessibility issues. But many raised dishwasher solutions create awkward counter layouts and or require (often expensive) custom cabinetry. This solution beautifully integrates form and function using the highly affordable and customizable AKURUM kitchen cabinets by IKEA. Check out the details of this handy hack, as well as some of the tips and tricks about this project after the jump!

We recently heard (thanks MCOIKEA) that IKEA will be introducing an induction cooktop in the United States in August!
No exact details are available yet, though we’re trying to find out details right now. Speculation puts it at a sub $1000 price point, though how much below is anyone’s guess at this point. The grapevine (thanks ted) also suggests that it will be a 30″ (71 cm) width model that will make the leap over the pond from UK/EU markets as that’s likely to be a better selling size initially. The discussion is on-going, join us in the forums to keep up with the latest developments.

Do you think the music at IKEA could be described as reflective, earnest, carefree? Or maybe it feels upbeat and familiar? Whatever it is, it sure doesn’t sound like Muzak … you know, that ubiquitous genericized elevator music played in department stores and (egads!) the dentist’s office? Believe it or not, that’s exactly what it is… Find out more about the music at IKEA and listen to some sample audio tracks after the jump!
