IKEA France has all the automotive world and environmental enthusiasts talking about an IKEA Concept Car, Leko (see micro-site). An official announcement will be made April 1st, which is also the beginning of France’s Sustainability Week.
According to Pierre Deyries, the Director of Sustainable Development at IKEA France,
What I can confirm is that IKEA France has decided to support a new car system, which is:
- cheaper and more responsible than any car on the market,
- allows customers to spend less on fuel,
- is adapted to the products the customer wants to bring home,
- is based on cooperation with others.
Leko and the french branch of the World Wildlife fund have also announced a partnership to help the environment and fight global warming. In the WWF press release on March 12, they stated that their first joint effort would be announced during Sustainability Week. We’ll be watching!
Thanks for the tip, Dave of the Coonties! Discuss in the forums: An IKEA Car?
