You’ll earn iKarma points in the Summer of Fun Contest in the following ways…
Bring new members to IKEAFANS.com
100 iKarma points for every new referral (a new member that signs up during the contest with your account specified as the referrer). In order to qualify for these points, the new member must be a member for at least 1 day during the contest period and make at least 2 posts in the forums.
Introduce yourself!
75 iKarma points for creating new threads in the forums. In addition, you’ll earn 1 additional iKarma point for every word in posts you make in posts or threads in the forums.
Simply show up!
50 iKarma points for each day that you visit the forums and log in
Participate in threads and posts in the forums
50 iKarma points for creating new threads in the forums. In addition, you’ll earn 1 additional iKarma point for every word in posts you make in posts or threads in the forums.
10 iKarma points for each post (response to an existing thread) you make in the forums. In addition, you’ll earn 1 additional iKarma point for every word in posts you make in posts or threads in the forums.
20 iKarma points for every reply made by someone else in a thread that you started. So post interesting threads and watch the points roll in!
10 iKarma points for uploading attachments in threads on the forums
Start and maintain a Project Blog in the Project Blog forum – **EXTRA POINT VALUES HERE!**
250 iKarma points for starting a Project Blog thread to track the progress of your project, or to showcase a finished project. In addition, you’ll earn 1 additional iKarma point for every word in posts you make in posts or threads in the forums.
10 iKarma points for each post (response to an existing thread) you make in Project Blog forum. In addition, you’ll earn 1 additional iKarma point for every word in posts you make in posts or threads in the Project Blog forum.
40 iKarma points for every reply made by someone else on your Project Blog. Engage your readers, and you’ll earn more points!
Start and/or vote on Polls in the forums
20 iKarma points for every poll created in the forums (you can choose to post a poll when creating a new thread in the forums)
10 iKarma points for voting on polls
Complete your Personal Profile
100 iKarma points for uploading a profile picture to your personal profile (go to My Account to update your profile)
100 iKarma points for filling in your profile fields (go to My Account to update your profile)
There will also be announcements made throughout the contest for special award points to be given in various categories, such as Most Enthusiastic IKEAFAN, Best Project Blog, etc. Annoucements for additional iKarma will be made in the News and Announcements forum, as well as here in the IKEA Fans Blog.
IKEAFANS Summer of Fun Contest Rules
1. You must be over 18 to win.
2. You must participate in the IKEA Community forums at www.ikeafans.com/forums in order to earn points (iKarma points) in the contest. Point values are listed below, and you can see your current iKarma point total in the top right corner of the page when you’re in the forums.
3. You must be a registered and confirmed IKEAFANS.com member (Register Here) in order to participate in the contest. Current staff of IKEAFANS.com, including administrators, moderators, community mentors, are not eligible to win. Former staff ARE eligible to participate and earn entries to win. Since IKEAFANS.com has no affiliation with IKEA, IKEA co-workers and other IKEA affiliated company employees ARE eligible to participate and earn entries to win.
4. IKEAFANS.com administrators reserve the right to disqualify any participant if there are suspicions of ‘gaming the system’, cheating, or otherwise bending the rules of the contest. Decisions by IKEAFANS.com administrators will be final and will not be up for arbitration.
5. A maximum of 2 entries into the final drawing may be awarded to any one participant. Each participant may earn one (1) entry by having the most number of points earned in a week (thirteen (13) weekly entries will be awarded – 1 for each week of the contest), and each participant may also earn one (1) entry into the drawing by being in one of the top twelve (12) point earners at the end of the contest. A total of twenty-five (25) entries will be entered into the drawing for the prizes.
6. Contest begins at 12:00:01am (ET/GMT-4) on July 1st, 2009 and ends at 11:59:59pm (ET/GMT-4), September 30th, 2009.
7. Your chances of winning increase with increased participation in the contest. See above for a detailed list of ways to earn points.
8. 1st prize is a $250 IKEA Gift Card, 2nd prize is a $75 IKEA Gift Card and 3rd prize is a $25 IKEA Gift Card. Prizes will be mailed within 2 weeks of the announcement of the winners. Winners will be announced on IKEAFANS.com. Additionally, winners will be notified by email and by Private Message through IKEAFANS.com.
