IKEA has put out two versions of a book to commemorate the 30th birthday of the iconic BILLY bookcase. Gorgeous imagery of the insides of the book are available at ifitshipitshere.  To further celebrate BILLY’s birthday, IKEAs across the US are gearing up with in-store activities.  We’re going to be bringing you the details of various store’s events as we get wind of them, but we’ve hunted up the details of a few to get started. Details after the jump!

IKEA Frisco, TX Events and Activities

IKEA Frisco has put together a bunch of special activities for book lovers and BILLY lovers in Texas, including a story telling session with Frisco mayor Maher Maso, and a Book Drive to benefit the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center.

Story Telling Events:

• Tuesday, October 20 at 4pm with the Dallas Storytelling Guild
• Thursday, October 22 at 4pm with the Dallas Storytelling Guild
• Saturday, October 24 at 2pm with Frisco Mayor, Maher Maso!

Book Drive

Donate new and gently used books for children and young adults in the main entrance lobby through November 1st. All books and 5 BILLY bookcases will be donated to Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center to help support childhood literacy.

IKEA Seattle, WA Book Drive

Drop off new or gently used children’s books at IKEA Seattle (ask at the Information Desk) between October 19th and October 31st to benefit Wellspring Family Services.

You’ll be helping families with young children share the joy of reading and family togetherness through your donation.

IKEA Tempe, AZ Activities and Events

IKEA Tempe has organized in-store book readings hosted by The City of Tempe and a Book Drive to benefit the Friends of Tempe Public Library.

In-Store Book Readings

• October 20th at 4pm in the Restaurant
• October 21st at 4pm in the Restaurant

Book Drive

Drop off new or gently used books for children or young adults in the collection bins located near the Exit doors and or the Customer Service department waiting area. The book drive will benefit the Friends of Tempe Public Library.
