Dalbrough's Traditional IKEA Adel White Kitchen

Viewed 1,767 times

This is a 100% DIY IKEA Adel White kitchen that I am seriously lusting after. Doesn’t help much that my own kitchen layout is strikingly similar.  I love the colors chosen, and I love having yet another example of a traditional kitchen done in IKEA cabinets.

Dalbrough tells us much more about it in her thread, ‘The little kitchen that could and did…’ but I’ve excerpted some here:

When we purchased our home 9 years ago I really didn’t like the tiny 11 X 12 odd shaped space with three door ways in it kitchen as I spent more and more time in that space I actually grew to literally hate it. After flip flopping trying to decide if we were going to put an addition on to give us more space we decided with a ton of help from everyone here at IkeaFans that due to our personal situation with my Mom and so much on the go we would just renovate the space we had. It being a very small space lots of planning and once again much help from everyone here we are now utilizing the space to the absolute best use of every square inch and it is now the little kitchen that could and did……and I love it – I really love it.

Dalbrough did some wonderful modifications in her kitchen to suit her specific needs, including some you see above, such as the dog food storage, the wine rack above the fridge made out of cover panels, and the slim 3″ storage for cookie sheets next to the sink. In the photos below, you can see that she used 2 cabinets to create a blind upper corner cabinet (a cabinet that IKEA doesn’t offer). It turned out beautifully!

A beautiful kitchen! Quick question – for your blind upper corner – is it a 30″ with a 18″ door? You mentioned on some thread that it was a bigger door than pictured. And did you install right up to the corner or pull it out a bit? Any tips/tricks from your experience? I’m trying to visualize how it would work for us. It would fulfill hubby’s wish for a glass cabinet somewhere in the space!

    Hi,
Yes it is a 36″ inch cabinet with an 18″ door installed right to the corner.

Had to get different blum hardware for the door and a filler panel for the cabinet perpendicular to it.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the kind comments by the way – we are very happy with it.
