The gorgeous orange orb above was created by Flickr user sylvar. sylvar used a REGOLIT pendant paper lampshade ($4-$6 depending on size), and one HEMMA lamp cord ($4) to construct the light. The paper shade was painted with Cotman Watercolor Paints (this one was done in Cadmium Orange). An inexpensive way to light up the night!
Following directions on the Martha Stewart site, you could also make the REGOLIT into a pumpkin. Pick up some green cardstock, construction paper or lightweight felt, some pipe cleaners or chenille stems as well as some brown floral tape.
How to Make Paper Pumpkins:
- Use Martha’s handy leaf template to cut out leaves for your pumpkins (resize as needed) and attach to a long pipe cleaner with glue.
- Curl some tendrils by winding two brown pipe cleaners around a pencil or marker, then slide off.
- Attach the tendrils and leaf to the pumpkin by winding the pipe cleaner wires around the wire of the lampshade.
- To create the stem, roll up newspaper into a cone shape, then wrap from the narrow end with brown floral tape. Attach a brown pipe cleaner to the wider end, then secure the stem to the pumpkin by winding the wire around the frame of the lamp shade.
- Hang with clear fishing line.
