ikea induction cooktop

We recently heard (thanks MCOIKEA) that IKEA will be introducing an induction cooktop in the United States in August!IKEA Induction Cooktop could the US version look like this?

No exact details are available yet, though we’re trying to find out details right now.  Speculation puts it at a sub $1000 price point, though how much below is anyone’s guess at this point.  The grapevine (thanks ted) also suggests that it will be a 30″ (71 cm) width model that will make the leap over the pond from UK/EU markets as that’s likely to be a better selling size initially.  The discussion is on-going, join us in the forums to keep up with the latest developments.

I have a single induction burner, purchased at Tuesday Morning for about $80. I used it exclusively for 6+ months in a home without a cooktop. Recently moved into a house with ELECTRIC range. After just one experience of using the electric cooktop I pulled out my induction burner. It’s faster, cooler, and uses much less electricity. Also is much easier to clean. When I forgot the oatmeal and it boiled over I just lifted the pot, wiped the surface with a towel, then wiped the pan with a wet cloth, and then resumed cooking. I hope to purchase a home and install an induction cooktop next year.

i just installed the nutid induction cooktop from ikea and used it for 2 meals. i dont think i want to ever go back to electric or even gas!it seriously feels faster than gas (i timed it and it seems to boiled water in a small pot in 2 minutes). Also, they made the controls also flat, so it is super easy to clean. I must say, i am in love with it!

oh, and it was sold for 1k flat, which is one of the cheapest induction cooktop i could find.

Did you have to drill wholes in your counter top in order to install it?

  5. Susan says:

it is built-in, so it has to be permanently mounted in your countertop, yes. It’s not a single or double burner portable model.
