IKEA Design Trends for 2011 
Each year, there are a multitude of design trends evident in the IKEA catalog. This year, we’ve identified a few and we’ll be bringing you more information from IKEA on what they see as their design trends over the next several weeks. But here’s a sneak peek based on our own observations, just for you!
Pink
It’s not the first year that IKEA’s had pink all over the catalog, but it’s still a big factor in this year’s new catalog. As evidenced by the pale pink APPLAD kitchen cabinets above, to the many shades of pink throughout the range, IKEA is still in love with pink.
Ethnic
Bold patterns and colors show up throughout the 2011 IKEA catalog. Oranges, blacks, browns along with earthy textures and tribal patterns stand out against neutral colors like white and tan.
Textural
A bold mix and match of textures brings this IKEA bedroom to life. Makes me want to jump in and snuggle up!
Blue
Blue appears to be a strong color in the 2011 IKEA Catalog. We’re seeing deep, rich royal blues like those in the STOCKHOLM line, as well as turquoise blues in the RUBRIK kitchen cabinet line, and both blue and an aqua in the new for 2011 STUVA kids furniture line.
Modular
IKEA has always had component based systems, but this year we’re seeing more of a focus on it. Take the STUVA line mentioned above – it’s like PAX for kids. Very modular, very component based. And the new VAXHOLM modular sofa is mix and match parts and pieces to get the look you want.
Colorful
Lots of bright colors in the forecast for this year. Perhaps we’re feeling more optimistic? Last year it was grays and dark woods – this year, textiles, bookcases and component-systems are full of bright primary and secondary colors. (Note the FASTBO panels in the second picture actually debuted last year, but I couldn’t resist – so bright and cheery!)
Folk
Swedish heritage has always been evident in IKEA’s range and this year is no exception. Look for folksy patterns, embroidered textilesand children’s bedding in folk patterns.

Love Ikea; thanks for your wonderful, democratic philosophy and design. At this moment I am surrounded by three Ikea lams which I so enjoy in my livingroom.
Unfortunately, yesterday I purchased an Ikea Skanka 10.25 grey pan with lid which had wrong hardware enclosed (screw too short for lid handle attachment.) Can you kindly mail me the correct hardware or a replacement? It is a “many-hour” trip for me to return to Brooklyn for return.

I love the new vaxholm modular sofa design – finally Ikea have released a sofa that will suit modern homes! I live in Dubai and it seems that the VAXHOLM model is not yet available. When will this be released in the UAE?

I am looking for a spare cover in the colot Tenö Light for the IKEA Vaxholm sofa!!! My sofa is huge and I bought it in black, which I regret. But being the most expensive sofa in IKEA I don’t want to have to buy a new one, but apparently the spare fabric is not sold separately anymore! That is a bit disappointing considering the price of the sofa… :-(

We bought the Vaxholm in CH and are now living in the US. When will this sofa be released here? I love this set and want to repurchase it. I know it will be a big hit here in the states as well, it is modern, comfortable and most importantly affordable. Please push to release in the states. THanks!
