IKEA’s DUVBO kitchen cabinet doorstyle has been discontinued for a couple of years now, so we don’t often get to see new pictures of completed kitchens in this style. But long-time IKEAFANS members Tim_and_Joyce just recently posted finished kitchen pictures of their DUVBO kitchen and it’s gorgeous! See more pics and get the details after the jump!
IKEA DUVBO Kitchens
DUVBO Gray is a doorstyle similar to STAT white or STAT yellow. It’s a farmhouse-y, cottage-y style that lends itself well to a traditional style kitchen and/or kitchens in older homes. (DUVERUM was DUVBO’s sister in style and structural predecessor – it was an inset doorstyle that didn’t last long though we loved it! – see below for our fave in this inset door style).
DUVBO goes nicely with the warm tones of the NUMERAR butcherblock countertop (treated with mineral oil/beeswax combination) and the red tones of the Spanish-influence terracotta tile in the backsplash.
I love the combination of the red terracotta tiles and the smaller 1″ tiles inset into the border. Nicely done!
This IKEA kitchen has an interesting mix of wood tones, warm and soothing colors and stainless appliances. It all works well together!
Although the kitchen was essentially completed almost four years ago, a recent addition of new GE appliances and a gorgeous backsplash has updated this DUVBO kitchen. Tim has this to say:
After installing our Ikea cabinets nearly 4 years ago, we finally got around to the backsplash and got some new appliances. We bought the tile for the backsplash over a year ago and just finally installed it last week. We replaced our old appliances with GE. The range is the Cafe series, the fridge & dishwasher are GE Profile series. The new range is awesome!
IKEA DUVERUM Kitchens
We loved the predecessor to DUVBO – called DUVERUM, it was one of a short-lived line of inset cabinets. You may or may not know that IKEA cabinets are European-style – or frameless. Frameless cabinetry offers more room inside and a cleaner, sleeker appearance when coupled with slab fronts or even more traditional fronts like DUVERUM, but it doesn’t lend itself easily to inset cabinets!
Still, it’s a beautiful door and was a fabulous way to save over expensive inset cabinets. I’m just sorry I missed it! This is one of our favorite DUVBO kitchens of all time from IKEA Fan, Mongon! Enjoy:

IKEA DUVBO / DUVERUM Kitchen Showcase

Duverum was the one I really wanted, but didn’t know about until it was too late. Inset cabs are all over the house magazines now — they should bring it back!
Usually i just skim through these blogs and only read ones that -jump- out at me so I can get new ideas for designs and stuff and yours did just that. Thanks for it – it is actually a real good read! Do you have a subcribe area so I can link to it to read again another day? Let me know – thanks.
