Recently, I had the chance to visit the IKEA Emeryville store in California. Living in an area in which I have to stare at an open field where someday an IKEA will be (IKEA Denver, or more accurately IKEA Centennial), it is always a thrill and pleasure to visit one of the already existing stores to get my “fix”.
Anyway, my intent was to absolutely enjoy a Swedish meatball lunch, walk slowly and deliberately through the Disney-like labrynth that is so unique to IKEA, take photos to blog with in the future, get ideas on how to take better advantage of a really dumb design corner in my kitchen, buy another $.49 blue bag to use when grocery shopping, see if there was a more updated Swedish Food Book than the 2007 version I already have, and top it all off with a $1 non-fat frozen yogurt cone as I walked out the door to await another visit in another city someday soon I hope.
Well, I accomplished all that AND I bought some IKEA coffee to take home (OMG! $2.99, really???), a bag of rhubarb and vanilla tea, and a wall clock that was small enough to pack and would replace the garage sale one in my office that was driving me crazy with it’s loud and fast ticking. The clock, was also $2.99 (photo above). The best part of the trip though, as always, was the exhilarating fun of just being at IKEA and getting overloaded with design ideas. I am soooo ready for the IKEA Centennial store to open!
