IKEA Fans Charitable Giving Program: Update

Viewed 373 times

chicken-iconClick, cluck! The first week of our Charitable Giving program, Clicks for Clucks, has come to a close and we’ve got the results. Find out how your purchases on home appliances, electronics, furniture, home decor, Christmas presents, books, videos and more can help to feed the hungry this holiday season after the jump!

Charitable Giving Week One – The Results

Thanks to your purchases through our affiliate links, IKEAFANS will be able to donate almost 2 flocks of chicks through Heifer International to help the hungry help themselves. We earned $73.44 in affiliate sales and consequently we’ll be donating $36.72 to Heifer International – almost enough for two whole flocks of chicks! Of course, this is all speculative – we’re going to run a poll and let YOU choose how we spend our Heifer Fund after the campaign is over. There’s so many animals and causes to choose from! In the meantime, we’ll be counting clucks…

How YOU Can Help the Hungry

We’re donating 50% of all affiliate revenues through December 24th to Heifer International. Surely you’ll be doing some online shopping this holiday season? All you have to do is click through our links (examples of retailers above) to make your purchases count! Here’s how your dollars will go to work to help feed hungry families throughout the world:

chicks-flock-heifer-internationalHeifer helps many hungry families with a starter flock of 10 to 50 chicks. A good hen can lay up to 200 eggs a year – plenty to eat, share or sell. With Heifer recipients’ commitment to pass on the offspring and training, the exponential impact of adding chickens to communities in poverty is truly a model that helps end hunger and poverty. Because chickens require little space and can thrive on readily available food scraps, families can make money from the birds without spending much. And chickens help control insects and fertilize gardens.

Continue clicking and we’ll keep clucking! Check out some of the more popular retailers above, or see the whole list! We’re adding NEW retailers all the time, so check back often – and certainly when you get ready to shop!

What a great idea! Nice to see IKEA is on the charity bandwagon, especially during the holiday season when so many people are in need.

Thanks Chelsea! Unfortunately IKEA’s not involved in this program, as IKEA Fans is not financially supported or otherwise affiliated with IKEA, though they like us ;-).

Susan and I thought this would be a great way to give people a painless way to help others this holiday season, doesn’t cost anyone a cent, and the Heifer International program is a fantastic way to help those that need it.
