We just returned a Finnvik memory foam and are thinking about getting a Hogla spring instead, but after reading through all the bad reviews, I am scared. My husband likes firm mattresses, while I prefer softer ones. The Hogla felt pretty good in the store, not too firm. They were out of stock the day we were there, so we have to wait two weeks to get it--annoying! Great point that the floor models seem softer than new ones. Something to think about.

We purchased a Hasselback mattress about 6 years ago which now looks to be sagging a little. Is it OK to flip it over? I seem to remember reading you couldn't do this but can't find any of the original documents!

Thanks

Purchased a HASSELBACK just over 3 years ago, was ok to start with then started sagging after the first year even after turning it over every month (recommneded by ikea) now causing back aches and stiff neck. Have to flip it over every other week, should have lasted more than 5 years. Called ikea who sent round a hired rep who then told ikea its normal wear and tear, called ikea CS and they refused to do anything further as the 3rd party rep reported as wear and tear. While i have read other reviews by people who have the same problem but a different outcome. I thought i had peace of mind with their 25 year warranty but the warranty is not worth the paper its written on.

So what I have gathered so far for Ikea products in the US is that anything beginning with:
F = Memory Foam mattress
H = Spring mattress
E = Latex mattress

The "F" mattress range doesn't seem to far well in the reviews for Ikea. However, having said that; years ago I crashed at a friends place for about 12 months on a non-ikea memory foam mattress (cost about AU$2000) and discovered I don't like memory foam mattresses in general. They mould to your body after about a year and it feels like the mattress is "grooved" to your sleeping position. Which is too bad since when I first settle down I like to be a bit cat-like and turn a couple of times before I get comfy. Really frustrating, but it did help me move on : )

Most of the "H" mattress reviews seem to have mixed responses depending on the price. Having spent most of my life on various spring mattresses (not Ikea) I am completely over the concept and them.

The best reviews from around the internet on Ikea mattress products seems to be around the "E" range. I've never slept on a latex mattress, "renowned" brands are expensive, seem to prefer a firmer mattress. If it is too firm, I'll get a latex or memory foam topper (both of which are relatively inexpensive and can therefore be thrown out if they don't work). The top "E" range is expensive-ish but should give me an idea on whether latex is my/our thing.

By the way, I have a Lycksele single bed and mattress in the spare room (picked the medium firmness mattress) and everyone that sleeps on it sleeps really well on it and absolutely love it. I love it for when I sleep in there to avoid waking my husband if I am having a restless night.

By the way the Ikea returns people in the States sound really bad, I'm sure not all of them are, I guess you don't usually hear about the ones that happen as expected.

Anyway, I wish for everyone a good night's sleep and fantastic service - no matter where you go. Cheers, Michaela, Australia

Bought the Ersfjord mattress for my son a few years ago... he's now longer than me so we purchased a new wider mattress (Also Ikea).
The 80cm Ersfjord is now in our guest-room.

I have a lot of problems with my back and I often wake up with pain witch results in changing position a lot during the night.

One night when the problems made it impossible for me to sleep I moved over to the guest-room and tried the Ersfjord mattress... I'm now stuck in the guestroom! :) I sleep all night, I don't need change position and I really love that mattress.

I have bought a Ford Transit minibuss and my plan is remove the last row of chairs to convert the bus to a camper with a 160cm Ersfjord in the back.

Unfortunately Ikea does have Erfjord this year ... I hope I can find one somewhere else.

Looking for a mattress..have been considering an Ikea..from these rewiews most are not that good. one of the problems is when looking at the Ikea site many of the mattresses are not the same names as mattresses in the reviews...over all my research has been that most memory foam mattresses any where are poorly rated...i have been sleeping on cotton futons for years but they also have sufferred the influx and cofusion of options/dealers/kinds/models/scams/quality/imports and pricing issues. Lets face it if you pay alot and you get junk or you pay little and get junk it is all junk.....so my meathod is buy cheap and be prepaired to replace asap in a couple of years or buy big and be prepaired to replace in a couple more years....after fighting with the cotton futon for two years now i am sleeping on a really cheap thin spring mattress probably an ikea...it is only about 4 inches thick...i am heavy and large...this is a matteress that i used for camping....it is several years old and is better than my cotton futon i paid big for....at this point i am considering springs SULTAN HARESTUA $99.00,SULTAN HUGLO $149.00,SULTAN HALLEN Response-coil mattress $219.00 for twin..i will probably buy two twins for my king size loft platform bed....this way i can turn them around any old way i want...I life in San Francisco...the quality of Ikea is put to the test by the amount of throw away furniture you find on the street corner that has been abandoned for the grave yard. do not by one of those couches with the arms that fold up and down for a bed this along with many other items purchesed from ikea often show up on the corner and is idicative of their quality or lack of quality...if you are buying cheap junk be prepared to throw it away soon....and be prepared to replace it

I bought the SULTAN FLOKENESE memory foam mattress. What a piece of junk! It was good for less than a year before it started sagging. I will never buy an Ikea mattress or any of their furniture again. It really is all low quality junk. I accept responsibility, you get what you pay for. I learned my lesson. Save your money and buy a real Tempurpedic.

I purchased a Sultan Hanestad a few months ago. My husband and I were used to a very cushiony old mattress, so it was a major adjustment, to go to most firm. The mattress was okay for me, but harder on him, with his super bad back. SO today we exchanged it for the Sutan Hallen, the other mattress we were thinging of getting originally. SO far I can already tell a difference; excited to see once we've readjusted to it. Overall the whole experience has been pretty decent, fingers crossed.

Ikea is a TERRIBLE mattress store. I bought the SULTAN FONNES Mattress and it's like sleeping on a brick. It's absolutely horrible. And, I lost the receipt so they won't exchange it.
