Need a replacement slipcover for an IKEA sofa or couch? Maybe you just don’t like the styles of loose covers available at IKEA for your EKTORP, KARLANDA, KLIPPAN, KRAMFORS, NIKKALA or EKESKOG couch, sofa, chair or ottoman. No worries! Comfort Works has you covered (pun intended, sorry…)!
Our friends at Comfort Works sent me a couple of examples of their work so that I could review them for you guys. See pictures of the products, plus find out how to WIN TWO CUSHION COVERS made by Comfort Works by clicking through…
Comfort Works – Custom Made at Ready Made Prices
Comfort Works was begun by Rachel and Henry Chandra in late 2009 to serve a need in the Australian market for custom slipcovers for IKEA sofas and along with matching cushions, curtains and quilt covers (aka duvet covers). In April 2010, Comfortworks.com.au was launched so that you can order custom slipcovers for IKEA sofas online and other custom fabric creations online.
Bonus – Slipcovers are a Green Option!
From only $169 AUD for a custom cover, it makes more sense to re-cover an old sofa with a new cover than to buy a new sofa. Less expensive + less waste = awesome custom option!
Comfortworks.com.au – Order IKEA Slipcovers Online
Want to order IKEA slipcovers online? Easy peasy! The Comfort Works website is clear, easy to navigate and simple to order from. I found what I was looking for quickly, and was able to select my trim options and see my choices on the sofa I’d selected. If you’re ordering cushion covers, curtains or a duvet cover, you can choose from additional options like piping/welting and button or zipper closures on pillow covers, or tab-top, pleated (pencil or pinch) or eyelet (otherwise known as a grommet fitting) tops for curtains. Also specify your custom size to get the perfect fit!
Comfort Works Fabric Selection
Comfort Works offers an array of fabrics to choose from, and slipcovers for seven different IKEA living room seating ranges as well as armchairs, footstools, sofas, couches, sectionals and chaise lounges for EKTORP, KARLANDA, KLIPPAN, KRAMFORS, NIKKALA or EKESKOG (check back frequently though because they’re continually adding to their offerings!).
With over 100 fabrics in 24 different collections, you’re bound to find something that will suit your style. I like Comfort Works because I found fabrics that suited my more traditional home instead of the somewhat funky fabrics that IKEA tends to produce as slipcovers for the IKEA sofa range. I was particularly impressed with the amount of information provided about the fabric on the Comfort Works site as well as the visual representations of the fabric applied to
Do make sure to request free samples as the color on my monitor differed significantly from the color of the fabric that I received. It’s all good though – the fabrics are of high-quality and mine were machine-washable and I LOVE the color of the tab top curtain that Comfortworks sent to me for this review (pictured right).
Cushions, Curtains and Coverlets to Match Slipcovers
One of the things I love about Comfort Works is that I can order cushions and curtains or draperies and coverlets that will match or complement a custom slipcover for an IKEA sofa! Since they produce all of the textiles in-house in their own workshop, I know the fabric lots will match and my room will be perfectly coordinated. I plan to order a custom sized cushion cover in the same fabric for the window-seat underneath the window you see pictured right. The tab-top curtain is in Oxford Green (also seen above on the EKTORP sofa) and was made by Comfort Works to my specifications. It’s perfect!
Shipping from Comfort Works
Comfort Works is currently offering FREE Shipping to its Australian customers for orders shipped within the continent. That’s a great deal for Aussies, but don’t worry if you’re not in Australia – they also ship worldwide through a shipping depot located in Hong Kong to reduce shipping costs to customers in the Americas and European nations. When I walked through an order for a EKTORP slipcover for a 2-seater sofa, the shipping estimate was a little more than 2 weeks away. Custom slipcovers in just a couple weeks is amazing!
Comfortworks Customer Service
Henry from Comfort Works is the ‘Client Service Dude’ and he’s incredibly responsive (though on Australian time, so respect the time difference!) to email requests, questions and issues. There’s also an online chat that’s available during Australian business hours to help answer simple questions.
Additionally, Comfort Works is a forum sponsor right here at IKEAFANS.com and both Henry and Kelly regularly appear in the Living Rooms forum to answer questions about IKEA couches, sofas and other upholstery, living room furniture and interior decorating questions.
