As part of the celebration of the 30 years of the Billy Bookcase, IKEA UK has teamed with Save the Children in the United Kingdom.  Bring a donation of a minimum of 5 used books to any IKEA UK store between September 28 and October 11 2009 and receive a £5 IKEA gift card to spend on your shopping.  IKEA will donate the books to Save the Children charity shops in the UK, which will then sell them for profit with the proceeds benefitting the Save the Children Foundation.

£5 IKEA Gift Card

In exchange for your book donation, IKEA UK will give you an IKEA giftcard worth £5 for you to spend in the store. You could use it to buy extra shelves for your BILLY bookcase, or for this fab BILLY bookend, pictured right. At just £1.49 - £2.49 each, you could get several in a variety of bright colours. Save the Children

Save the Children works to ‘ensure children get proper healthcare, food, education and protection.’  92% of Save the Children’s donations in 2008 went directly to program services.  Program goals include, ‘Saving lives in emergencies, campaigning for children’s rights and improving their futures through long-term development work.’  You can help achieve these goals by donating your unwanted books!
