In this second in our series on the IKEA Bathroom range, we explore LILLÅNGEN (See GODMORGON: IKEA Wakes Up to High Quality Bathroom Cabinets).  Think of LILLÅNGEN as GODMORGON’s little brother. A little vanity - barely more than the size of a pedestal - the LILLÅNGEN fills in where no other sink could even dare try. The smallest version is less than 16″ wide! Outfitted with hooks, a soap dish and a moveable tray, all of which attach by hooks, LILLÅNGEN uses the small space it takes up very efficiently. LILLÅNGEN System

While LILLÅNGEN is not as fully fleshed out as a component based system as GODMORGON is, it does offer a lot of options for fitting the space in your loo perfectly. To begin with, you have the simple, small 16″ sink base cabinet, leg base and sink combination. Talk about a compact storage solution! If you’ve got slightly more space, however, your options expand greatly.

For example, if you have a 24″ space in which to place your sink base cabinet, you have the following options:

Closed and Open Storage: 24″ wide x 15″ deep x 31″ high

A 24″ sink plus a 16″ wide x 31″ high cabinet and 2 end units with open storage. This combination gives you a sink at 31″ high - the traditional height for a vanity sink, some closed storage and some open storage.

Closed Storage: 24″ wide x 15″ deep x 31″ high

This next combo also gets you a 24″ sink with all its attachments, but with closed storage underneath. Still 31″ high, this is perfect for a kids’ bathroom or for those of smaller stature. It also saves you $20 plus a lot of dusting. This particular sink base cabinet can be used with a vessel sink instead of the IKEA sink if desired.

Closed Storage: 24″ wide x 15″ deep x 36″ high

This next combo uses a taller sink base cabinet, so that the total overall height is 36″ instead of 31″. Many advocate a taller vanity cabinet in the bathroom. Afterall, 36″ is standard in the kitchen - why not the bathroom?

32″ Space Options

Similar variations are possible in a 32″ space - the following options are available using the 32″ sink:

• a 32″ closed cabinet with two doors,
• a 24″ cabinet with two doors and open storage on one side, or
• a 16″ cabinet with one door and open storage on both sides

If you go with the tiny 16″ sink in your 32″ space, you could also consider the following options:

• a 16″ closed sink base cabinet with one door next to a 16″ 3 drawer base cabinet with a 32″ mirror or wall cabinet on the wall
• a 16″ closed sink base cabinet with one door next to a 16″ high cabinet with a 16″ mirror or wall cabinet above the sink (pictured right)

LILLÅNGEN Wall Cabinets

Increase your storage space up above by adding a wall cabinet or medicine cabinet. Mirrored cabinets come in the same basic three sizes, with one door and two door options, plus the same open shelving unit can be added to the side(s) of the wall cabinet for additional shelf space. For the 32″ space in our example above, choose one of the 32″ mirror cabinet options shown below:

Or pick a horizontal wall cabinet with a door that lifts up to open with a birch or white solid door or the frosted glass with aluminum frame. (Also available in 24″ width)

ANORDNA LYX & ANORDNA MEST

The real beauty of the LILLÅNGEN cabinets comes into play when you consider the organizational and storage possibilities with ANORDNA. These specialized trays come with a frame that attaches to the inside of either the 16″ base cabinet, or inside the LILLÅNGEN high cabinet; the trays then slide out like drawers and can be removed for ease of use. Alternatively, you could stack the trays inside the drawers of the 16″ wide three-drawer base cabinet.

These trays have compartments especially designed to hold lotions, creams, lipsticks and other makeup essentials, but could also be used for storage of hair clips, barrettes, headbands or elastics. Organize jewelry, cleaning supplies or kids’ tub toys. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

LILLÅNGEN High Cabinets

With LILLÅNGEN, it’s all about maximizing available storage space. When you don’t have a lot of square footage, go vertical! The high cabinet is perfect for linen storage, but also doubles as a storage unit for ANORDNA organizational trays. Add as many extra shelves as you need for only $9.99 for each set of two.
