swedeshop-iphone-application-logoDrop everything! You can now recycle those little IKEA pencils – there’s a new iPhone application for shopping at IKEA!  SwedeShop by Danilo Campos was released as a FREE application for the iPhone on August 16th, 2009 and it will remain free until midnight (Pacific time) Tuesday night, August 18th!  Find out how to get it for free after Tuesday after the jump!

Download SwedeShop until tomorrow night absolutely free.

From the iTunes store application description for SwedeShop:

Store the name, location (including aisle/bin number or section) and notes about the stuff you want to buy. Take a photo right in the showroom, set a priority and record the price. Set a budget and your local tax rate to keep track of your spending. SwedeShop supports international formatting and currency. SwedeShop also includes a Swedish translation.

swedeshop-iphone-applicatoinOnce you’ve wended your way through the showroom, and your list is complete (yeah, right!), you can sort it by price or priority to review.  If you’ve gone over budget (and who doesn’t, really?), SwedeShop will notify you so that you can make adjustments as necessary. Once you’ve loaded an item into your cart, tap the photo or icon and move it to the bottom of your list.  Every time you change, add or remove an item from your list, your purchase total is recalculated, including your local tax – don’t get surprised at the register ever again!

Campos developed SwedeShop in about 7 days following a particularly stressful day at IKEA Portland. Driving home, he groused, “surely IKEA ought to have an iPhone app to make the process a little easier.”  Finding none, he set out to write it himself. ”Honestly, I thought I was nuts right at first,” he admits.  ”All I had to work with were the memories of my many trips to IKEA,  my leftover shopping list and store map from the recent visit.” Despite the rapid development, early reviews are positive, and Campos reports 650 downloads on the first day of release. Not too shabby!

24 year old Campos has a Bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Business and has recently relocated to Bend, Oregon to develop applications for the iPhone full time. You can see his other applications and projects here: http://www.danilocampos.com/ Follow him on Twitter @_danilo for updates and additional information.

Have you downloaded this application? Found it useful? Tell us about it!

If you’re reading this late, and have missed your chance at downloading the application for free, stay tuned because IKEAFANS will be giving away a bunch of SwedeShop promo codes for free downloads later this week.
