“How to build an IKEA hacked sideboard?” asks IKEA Fan, blue denim. Gorgeous pieces have been hacked and built by various people, so there’s lots of inspiration and advice out there.

Inspired by ted’s beautiful modern, sleek-lined, contemporary sideboard posted at ikeahackers.net that blue denim posted in her query as an example, we went out to find some of the nicest examples of sideboards and hutches hacked out of IKEA cabinets.

One of the great things about the IKEA PAX wardrobes, is the huge sliding doors.  Well, ok, the amazing flexibility of storage solutions to go in the PAX wardrobes is the best thing about them, but the doors are really great too, and a lot better priced than a comparably attractive glass and aluminum door.  So jfranci3 decided to adapt the PAX door’s hanging system to attach the doors to the front of an existing closet (above left) .  And hbrico took the lessons and techniques jfranci3 shared with us and built an entire room divider (above right). It couldn’t come at a worse time. Just tonight you’ve given your new IKEA mattress a test run, and you got lucky – you’re finally going to get a good night’s sleep. Then, suddenly, as you blissfully turn over in your sleep, you come crashing down to earth. Or to the floor, anyway. #$@%!!  What just happened?

Your bed slats fell through your bed frame, that’s what happened. The question is why. And the answer is inside…

IKEA Hack: Hemi Salad Bowl Speakers

A hemispherical speaker you say? OMG, it’s all kinds of awesome. So much more than the salad bowl speakers you’ve seen before (no offense to the Matt Blanda Salad Bowl Speakers seen on IKEA Hacker but these go beyond!), these hemispherical speakers have no less than 6 speakers mounted on the bowl.  Holy salad holes, Batman!  Says the hacker, Holland Hopson, “The speaker sounds good–punchy and more powerful than I expected, particularly considering the 4″ drivers.”
