IKEA UPPTACKA Travel Collection 2011 Catalog

UPPTACKA Travel Comes to the US

Well, sort of. Although I haven’t seen these new travel related products in the IKEA US catalog, we are seeing them on the IKEA US website, so we have to assume that they are making their way over the pond. So far, I’ve only been able to find some of the items from the UPPTACKA travel range at the Conshohocken store in Pennsylvania – and only eight of the backpack on wheels are in stock there. Time will tell if these items from the IKEA Family Travel range will make their way across the US. Prices range from $3.99 for the umbrellas to $69.99 for the backpack on wheels or the carry-on with wheels and briefcase. Let me know if you see them in stores!

IKEA Family

In IKEA in the UK and Europe, IKEA Family (a customer loyalty program that offers special ‘ranges’ of products, discounts, other benefits and even a digital magazine to its members) is known for bringing different products to market for IKEA Family members. The UPPTÄCKA travel range is part of IKEA Family, and apparently it’s on it’s way to the US.

I believe IKEA Orlando carries some of these luggage items. It also carries the IKEA Family pajamas, which I love.

UPPTÄCKA backpack on wheels is a nightmare. The handle broke on my first trip… Prefer Northface Double track 21, a lot more expensive, but much stronger…

The ikea in south philadelphia have all on the travel collection. I just bought the orange backpack, and it’s been treating me really good. For a girl who carries and put everything into her bag this is perfect for college students.

I just saw the travel collection at the Detroit store and it seems fantastic! I’m bummed that I had just bought a wheeled backpack online for Black Friday for over twice as much as the Upptacka. Although, even empty, the Upptacka didn’t feel that comfortable, would still be worth the try, though.

And, ironically, Detroit’s store didn’t have the Ikea Family sign-up stand I was hoping it would. Guess I’ll have to go to the Woodbridge store when I get home and take advantage of that Black Friday sale for the Expedit shelf. =)

    UPPTÄCKA backpack

I used this for a trip to Spain it was spot on for airport travel, I have a wife and two kids and being able to curry two bags in one on your back and on wheels when you need it was very handy when you have a family with you.

I was told it was too big at check in for hand luggage then I spit it into two and give it to my 6 year old and was then given the ok, I felt I got one over on the man!

A well thought though product design, worth every penny.
