We started from scratch in this room 6 months ago--there was no sink, no DW, no cabinetry, old ugly white vinyl flooring and it was literally a dumping ground for everything "extra" in the house. We designed, bought, assembled and installed the cabinets, DIYed the soapstone tile countertop, installed the undermount sink, got a steal of a deal on the faucet on Ebay, and put down the cork floor. We added electrical for display, undercabinet and halogen track lighting ourselves and built the display shelves in the room--that was last summer. We did hire a plumber to bring the plumbing through the (original exterior) wall from our other sink  and to hook up the faucet. The island is an ~80 year old General Store cutting counter from our town that we stripped, sanded, painted and fitted with new hardware. We still have a few bits and pieces to finish, like the marble backsplash and repainting, but this gives you the general idea.

Here's an overly complicated cabinet that we fabricated to house wraps and baggies: Here's the trim we did around our dishwasher end panel and dishwasher:

Here's a picture of our DIY Soapstone Tile Installation: Here's our 15" deep custom drawer box made by Scherr's for an awkward, now perfect spot!

And a thread discussing it.

There are 7 individual tiles in this picture, not including the skirting.  See any seams?

Our thanks to Scherr's!
